2012 Homecoming is just a few days away.
The Homecoming dance will take place on Saturday, September 15. Last year the dance was switched from Friday night after the football game, to Saturday so that the band, cheerleaders, and football players alike were not too busy between game time and the dance. It also affects the student section.
“I like it better on Saturday because all of the students choose to stay for the whole game, rather than leaving early to get ready,” senior Meagan Reiners said.
The decorating process for Homecoming used to be a challenge for STUCO due to the fact that they didn’t have a whole lot of time with the dance being on Friday.
“We have done this long enough to not be thrown off by challenges. It’s just a matter of getting things done. Having the dance on Saturday helps too,” physics teacher and STUCO sponsor Jim Fielder said.
Every year STUCO gets together and decides a theme for the Homecoming dance.
“The council members get together and throw out ideas, and they end up narrowing it down to just one theme,” Fielder said.
“We don’t really have a them for this year, but you will be seeing a lot more black and orange then the last few years,” Fielder said.
Fielder also mentioned that anyone from the student body is welcome to come and help decorate Friday after school, and if needed Saturday morning.
Also on Friday is the HHS Fall Pep Rally, and everybody is encouraged to come and support our athletes. Also show your Tiger Pride by sporting the themes for Spirit Week.
