The Tiger girls basketball team took the B-5 district title Friday night following a 50-42 win over Aurora. The girls play York in the first round of the state tournament at Bob Devany Sports Center in Lincoln at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Head coach Greg Mays believes that there is a strong possibility for the Tigers to be successful at the state tournament. “Seven of the eight teams have a legitimate shot to win it and we are one of them.Ā York was the pre-season number one team in the state.Ā They played in the semifinals last year despite not having a senior on the roster, so they are a tough first round foe.Ā If we get by them, we could win it all,” Mays said.
Back in December, Hastings played a tough game against York. The Tigers led by six points in the fourth quarter, until York made a quick comeback.
Our Tigers have the work ethic, motivation, and the skill needed for a state title. So show your support at their game on Thursday. #TheseTigersThisYear
