Many students are here for almost 12 hours a day. Many athletes at HHS also struggle to balance their sports with grades. Sometimes getting an A in a class and being in a varsity sport can be one of the biggest struggles of being a high schooler.
Freshman Julia Reimer has a sport for every season. She plays softball, basketball, and soccer.
“I usually try to get my homework done in T3 or in class, so that I don’t have to worry about it when I have a long practice or game,” Reimer said.
Julia’s two brothers Will and Ben Reimer both graduated as Valedictorian. It is Julia’s dream to carry on the family legacy and become Valedictorian as well.
Sophomore Bailey Richman has a passion for both basketball and soccer, which she has been been playing since she was five years old. But all of those practices paid off because she is now on varsity for both basketball and soccer.
“My grades consist of mostly A’s and B’s which I think is pretty good,” Richman said “I could never imagine my life without sports!”
Senior Addison Belau is an avid sports player, he has been in football, basketball, and track for all four years of high school.
“I don’t think sports really have that much impact on my school life,” Belau said.
Some people may think that sports totally mess up their school life or not affect it at all.
Senior Madeline Warrick loves to play volleyball and some tennis for fun. She also plans to pick up track starting this year. Even though Madeline has a busy athletic life she has been able to keep up with her grades, never dropping below an A average.
“I didn’t want to live in the shadow of my amazing sister my freshman year so I held off on doing track. But I also like to call myself the on time procrastinator,” Warrick said.
Even though getting the A and playing a varsity sport can be very stressful at times but some students find it’s totally worth it.
