In November 2015, a set of sisters at Hastings High started a fashion website known as Pair of Trends. The blog is owned by sophomores Mariah and Megan Steiner. Other big name fashion blogs motivated the Steiners to take a chance on starting their blog. However, their interest began within their sister.
“Our older sister Justine sparked our interest in the fashion world. She did several internships while living in Germany, and helped us to create our website,” Mariah said.
The photos, the fashion, and the stories all make up the website. The photos are taken by the girls themselves.
“This is usually just us driving around town trying to find good scenery to use for our background. Then we edit those photos we took and whichever one of us is in the photos will write about that outfit,” Megan said.
The Steiners look at other blogs to keep up with new trends.
“Megan and I come up with different looks, and figure out what looks good with what,” said Mariah.
“We usually find new clothes to wear that we haven’t already posted about, or wearing the clothes we already have in a new way,” Megan said.
Pair of Trends usually has a post once a week. Sometimes it takes more than a few days to conjure.
“We try to post a least once or twice a week. Sometimes we get a little busy during the school year though, and it makes it a little harder to post as often,” Mariah said.
“We try to get creative so our readers can have something interesting and new to read each week,” Megan said.
Although sometimes their schedule can be hectic, the Steiners keep posting to Pair of Trends.
“We would like to keep expanding our blog and reaching more people and countries,” Mariah said.
“We also keep posting because we think we can make this a career for us. And the only way we can do that is to keep posting great content and expanding our brand,” said Megan. “We keep the blog going because we feel like our readers like what we post. We care about our readers and want them to stay interested so we know we need to keep posting to not disappoint them.”
Mariah and Megan have had Pair of Trends for over a year now and find that their favorite part of all lies among their progress and viewers.
“I really appreciate all of the feedback and support from people who read the blog, and we have had several other popular bloggers comment and view our site,” Mariah said.
“We’ve come really far since day one. We remember when we were lucky to get 50 views a week and now we have views from around the world. It’s nice to see how far our posts go,” Megan said.
