The Hastings High boys and girls secured victories at double duals against Grand Island Northwest and Lexington on Saturday, January 4.
The boys team defeated Lexington 1000 to 866 in game one and won game two 1000 to 754. Hastings won the Baker portion of the match to secure the match 19 points to 2 points. In the second match against GINW, Hastings won game one 1008 to 833 and won game two 901 to 849. GINW won the Baker portion of the match. Hastings won the match 14 points to 7 points. Hastings was led by senior Riley Sadd’s 246 game and 223 average; senior Wyatt Davis, who had a 241 game and averaged 204; senior Wyatt Godtel averaged 195; senior Chandler Hysell averaged 193; freshman Bladyn Hogan averaged 178; freshman Marcel Mullen averaged 175; and junior Nick Christen, who averaged 162. The defending state champions improve to a class B leading 6-0 on the season.
In the first match the girls defeated Lexington 823 to 573 in game one and 849 to 490 in game two to win the match 20 points to 1 point. In the second match against GINW, Hastings won game one 770 to 700 and lost game two 729 to 775. Hastings won the Baker portion of the match to squeak out an 11 to 10 point victory. Hastings was led by senior Mikayla Novak’s 212 game and 189 average; senior Cheyenne Fielder’s 204 game and 175 average; junior Ashley Hock averaged 155; junior McKenzi Kidd averaged 141; sophomore Samantha Hopkins averaged 132; and junior Natasha Ashley averaged 130. The defending state champion girls improve to a Class B leading 5-0.
