As we approach the holiday season, one of the big questions every year is whether a real Christmas tree is better than a fake one.
Both options have pros and cons. Real trees, for example, have the Christmas smell that so many people love. However, they shed plenty of needle pines and they probably aren’t the right fit for you if you have pets.
Another big advantage of real Christmas trees is the experience of picking one out. Although I have never experienced this first hand, I can imagine the joy of arriving at a Christmas tree farm with your family and picking out the perfect winner.
However, another con of real trees is they are retired after only one year while fake Christmas trees can last decades.
As a fake tree owner, I love decorating it with all of my family’s ornaments we’ve collected over the years. While it may take some time to set up, it’s fairly easy to do and it’s a fun experience to participate in with your family.
Another big reason why my family has always tended to go with artificial trees is because we have pets. At the moment, we have a kitten who would love to climb a real Christmas tree in our living room. We also don’t want our pets trying to eat the pine needles.
It is up to you to determine if Christmas trees might be the better experience for you and your family, however I think I will always favor artificial Christmas trees.
