Spirits are high throughout the halls of HHS. The girls softball team won the championship game of B-5 districts. They have made it to state.
The journey leading to this victory was an experience in itself.
“We had a couple losses early in the season that really affected us later in the season but all in all I think we’re doing pretty good. Our outcomes have been pretty good for what we expected. We had a pretty good feeling that we were gonna win districts because our team this year was really good. Our team is full of good players,” said softball player Kennedy McCoy.
McCoy is happy to win districts this year.
“This is my first time winning districts, it was really exciting! So many emotions were going through the team’s head when Olivia pitched that last out,” McCoy said.
The Tigers shut out Northwest in the district championship with a score of 10-0. The team is going 25-8 this season, and is ranked No. 5 overall in Class B.
Class B state softball will be held at the Smith Softball Complex on Wednesday October 14. The Tigers will play their first game at 11:30 a.m. against Northwest.
“This will be our sixth time playing Northwest. We need to start hitting better. We hit good already, but I feel like we need to get our hitting more together,” McCoy said.
