The NCAA football season this year had its ups and downs, its upsets, and its blowouts. This season blew up the social media websites, including facebook, and twitter, with all of the news, rumors, and updates.
There was one game this year that was hugely talked about on all of the media sites, and it even started its own trend on Youtube: The Iron Bowl.
The game was between the number four ranked Auburn Tigers, and the number one ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. The most watched game all season long, it didn’t have the typical ending to a college football game.
The Crimson Tide ran the clock down to one second, and attempted a 56 yard field goal to win the game, but it came up a yard short. An Auburn player returned the missed kick for 109 yards and a touchdown to win the game, 34-28 in what was probably the biggest upset of the year.
Another big upset, that ended up changing the outcome of the Bowl Game selections, was the game between the number two ranked Ohio State Buckeyes, and the number ten ranked Michigan State Spartans. Every poll across the internet said the Buckeyes would overpower the Spartans, but the Spartans’ number one ranked defense proved otherwise. The Michigan State Spartans defense led them to victory over the top ranked Buckeyes by a score of 34-24.
Those two big upsets changed the outcome of many of the big bowl games that were to be played this season. The National Championship game will be played between the Florida State Seminoles and Auburn. Ohio State and the Clemson Tigers will play each other in the Orange Bowl. Alabama and the Oklahoma Sooners will play in the Sugar Bowl. The Baylor Bears will face off with the Central Florida Knights. And to finish off the BCS games, Michigan State will take on the Stanford Cardinal in the Rose Bowl.
