Have you ever wanted to go to a musical outside of town but you just couldn’t afford it?
Well, English teacher Carla Hedstrom and Counselor Jalene Choquette have come up with a solution.
They have applied for a $50,000 or a $25,000 grant through the “Clorox: Power a Bright Future” foundation. Their plan is to get money so they can take students to cultural events throughout Nebraska at no cost to the student. They are 1 of 402 proposals under the “Create” category.
“If we can get this grant we will be able to take kids to musicals, concerts, plays, and even art exhibits,” said Hedstrom.
The foundation is giving out seven grants. four will be determined by voting and three will be chosen by the foundation. The proposal with the most votes will get a $50,000 grant and the rest will get $25,000 grants.
Voting starts November 5 and anyone can vote daily until December 12. Students can vote using their school computers, their personal computers, and even their smart phones
“I’m planning on having all my students vote every day,” Hedstrom said.
