This is Drew Danielson’s first year as the head boy’s basketball coach, taking over for Lance Creech and coming from the head coach position at Cozad where he left with a record of 55-42. Danielson is excited to bring new energy to HHS and see what the boys basketball team is capable of.
Danielson played basketball at Hastings College and is passionate about developing a system that revolves around involving the community, leaders and administration.
“Hastings High Basketball is a goldmine for developing one of the best programs in Class B. We have great facilities and kids,” Danielson said.
Danielson can’t stress enough how important it was that the basketball team plays and wins as one.
“All of our varsity players are players to watch and will play team basketball,” Danielson said.
This year, Danielson is having to jump over more obstacles than ever because of the pandemic and being a new teacher around the school.
“By far, the biggest challenge this year has been getting to know everyone in school and getting our team ready to play with COVID restrictions,” Danielson said.
Through all of this, Danielson still wants the best for his players and students alike.
“Our goal is to continue to get better every single day and make sure our kids are leaders in the classroom and the community,” Danielson said.
