Districts happened on May 13 with many HHS athletes qualifying for state. Hastings High qualified in Six events this 2015 season.
The Tigers made a very strong showing in the throwing events with three people qualifying for state in the discus, and two people in the shot put. Senior Diego Ventura, junior Dylan Rutt grade, and junior Libby Knapple all qualified in the discus. Ventura threw for 148 feet and Rutt threw for 158 feet 11 inches. Neither of them threw their best throw of the season. For girls discus Knapple threw for 122 feet 9 inches.
She and senior Travis Hartwig qualified in the shot put, Knapple throwing for 36 feet 3.5 inches and Hartwig 54 feet 6 inches.
HHS jump squad had two people qualify, one guy and one girl. Sophomore Cade Adler qualified for triple jump with a jump of 41 feet and one half inch. Adler also tied for fourth with a jump of 20 feet 3 and a half inches falling short of state by a quarter of an inch. For girls junior Rae Markle qualified in long jump with a distance of 17 feet and three quarters of an inch.
Finally, the 3200 meter relay team qualified for state with a time of 8:17.62. That team consisted of freshman Seth Simonson, senior Addison Belau, junior Josh Dycus, senior Tylan Matthias in that order. Alternates are seniors Jack Foreman and Ryder Mays.
