From scarves, to boots, to thick Christmas sweaters, fall and winter seasons are a time for new trends. The halls of Hastings Senior High are no exception to these.
There are many hot items to hit the halls such as North Face “Roos.” Roos are smaller bags that are worn around the shoulder with the bag toward the back. Other accessories for girls include leg warmers. These are most commonly found under any and all boots.
Also for the girls, maxi dresses and skirts, long floor length, and high-low dresses and skirts, shorter in the front and most times floor length in the back, are very big and can be seen on a daily basis. For other dresses, sweater dresses are incredibly popular for their warmth and style. Junior Elizabeth Franssen said about the trends, “I love shopping for dresses. Each dress allows me to be a certain person for a day. I can be elegant and classy for the day then quirky and unique another.”
As for shoes, riding boots seem to be found around every corner here. For those not in boots there is a good chance they might be wearing Toms. Toms are not a new trend for this year, but they still are growing in popularity with more variety of colors and patterns being seen. For our gentlemen, besides the basic tennis shoes, Vans seem to be the footwear of choice for most.
As for pants there are some new trends that some people just do not like, such as wearing leggings as pants. Most commonly seen are solid black legging because of their comfort and ability to go with about anything. But, starting this year pattern legging, such as aztec or christmas in design, are rising in popularity.
Finally, denim shirts have made their way to the top. These are commonly seen with white jeans or leggings. For our guys, many can be seen in aztec patterned sweatshirts and hoodies. And if the weather gets a little too cold for just a sweatshirt, “puffy” winter coats are a guy’s best way to stay trendy and warm. With all the new trends there are so many ways to express yourself.
