November 1 may seem like an average day for everyone, but not for the Drama club. This is the premier date of the fall play, “Marcus is Walking” by Joan Ackerman. The show is composed of vignettes (short stories) that takes place in cars.
To be expected on the show, Director Katie Schultz says that students will see a lot of returning actors as well as new faces. The audience will also enjoy great sound design because each scene gets its own song.
Schultz predicts the audience will find this show very easy to relate to and will find many scenes familiar. It includes a couple who is lost on their way to a dinner party, girls who run over an animal (then have to figure out what to do), and in the title scene they will see a father taking his son trick or treating. Some unique scenes include a quirky, homeless woman named Queenie who lives in a car belonging to another character.
To make it different from the previous fall plays, the play will have original choreography by World Literature teacher Emily Dunbar. In fact, two of the stories will be told through dance and Dunbar was able to put together some very fun numbers.
As for the crew, Schultz believes the she has chosen the right group of students.
Schultz said they have been rehearsing for about a month, and the cast has been great! They are finding fun and unique traits for their characters, and the audience is in for a treat.
