When people think of fall sports, they think of football, or volleyball.The Hastings High volleyball team is off to a tremendous start, with exciting wins over the McCook Bison, tenth ranked Holdrege, Class A Kearney, and winning the Central City Invite. The team is currently ranked 4th in Class B and host their own triangular on Tuesday, September 24 and are off to number one ranked Grand Island Northwest for an invitational on Saturday. Head Coach Dave Hepner feels the success of the team has come from their strengths.
With six meets under their belts the cross country team has seen steady improvement. Assistant coach Mike Nanfito thinks that will continue throughout the season.
The Hastings High softball team is off to a rocky start with a 5-16 record with a young starting lineup. Coach Pete Theoharis says the team needs to improve offensively, but are showing great athleticism as they develop their skills.
