This year’s Winter Break was from December 22nd to January 3rd, and some students have strong opinions about coming back to school.
“I have mixed emotions about coming back after Winter Break. I am excited to see my friends and teachers again, but I am ready for this cold weather to end,” senior Emma Landgren said.
Transitioning from having almost two weeks off of school to coming back with a new schedule can be stressful for some.
“As a freshman, I tend to struggle with finding my classes, but when we come back to school after being gone for so long with a new schedule, it can be scary because I have to refind my classes,” freshman Addie Lakin said.
Even though Winter Break may feel like an eternity, for some, Winter Break just doesn’t cut it when it comes to escaping the normal school routine.
“As someone who loves the freedom of not having to deal with school, I just think we spend so much time in school that two weeks off just doesn’t quite hit the mark in terms of my satisfaction when it comes to a longer break,” sophomore Lauryn Boutin said.
Taking some time off during winter break, even if it’s just a couple of weeks, can do amazing things when it comes to students’ minds.
“I am so glad that we had that little break because I spent a lot of time with my family and friends, doing Christmas activities, baking, sledding, and opening presents, and my mind needed that relaxation so I could come back to second semester and be the best I possibly can,” Landgren said.
Jumping back into a routine after a break can be difficult, but when you have the right mindset and a positive attitude, you can do anything you set your mind to.
“After break it was hard to get up in the morning because my school routine was messed up, but when I finally snapped back into reality I got back into my routine and started to accept that we were back in school,” Lakin said.
Going back to school after Winter Break might not be the most thrilling thing, but knowing that you only have one more semester to go can change your perspective on things.
“It might not be my favorite thing to head back to school, but I’m excited to see what this second semester will bring me, and I’m prepared to take any challenges that are thrown at me,” Boutin said.
