This year, the Hastings High softball team is 22-9 in their season. They have been practicing five days a week every day after school.
“I think we’ve been having a very good season and I think a lot of people doubted us in the beginning, so I think we’re going to finish out the season strong,” senior Emma Landgren said.
Many of the softball players have different mindsets, but they all have the same goals, which is to face adversity and do what it takes to win state.
“My personal goal is to play the best I can and to give one hundred ten percent every day because without giving one hundred ten percent then there’s no point in being there,” junior Makenzie Nollette said.
There are plenty of schools in our district, so the softball team has been trying to do their best to defeat those teams.
“I think any of the games we’ve lost have been the toughest depending on whether or not we were working as a team also played a factor in those games, but winning wise our toughest game would be against Elkhorn North. They were really tough, so we had to play clean and solid the whole time,” Nollette said.
The softball team is always doing drills working on basic skills such as pitching, base running, catching, etc.
“Yes, I think we have improved a lot from last year, we’ve had great leadership and everyone is in it to win,” sophomore Hadyn Laux said.
The softball team is very competitive and are always down for some competition in order to win against their opponents.
“I think I have improved from last year but I think the team has improved a lot also because everyone knows their roles when it comes down to facing other teams,” Landgren said.
With the outcome of the season being 24-12 senior, and only senior, Emma Langdren says her final goodbyes to Hastings High Softball.
“I liked being the oldest on the team, someone the others can look up to or talk to if they had problems. I’m just upset that it is over, I’m so exited to see what the team does next season. I’m so happy I got to be apart of Hastings High Softball the past three years, and I wish the coaches and the them the best,” Landgren said.
