After the five month long summer break due to COVID-19, the policy and staff changes within Hastings High have been fairly tremendous, with five new staff members in various positions around the school. One of these positions happens to be replacing computer technician Steve Adisson, who retired last year.
Filling his position is Hastings High Alumni Alex Aldrich. Aldrich was led to the position from his previous experience as a student in the school, as he graduated only two years prior.
“It was an open door to what I studied over at CCC with computers and networking,” Aldrich said. Aldrich did not expect to return to his previous high school, but is excited to fulfill the position, and assist people in their computer troubles.
Though it is never easy to take over a new job position, it certainly wasn’t made easier for Aldrich, as he had to deal with never before faced issues that came with COVID-19.
“COVID-19 affects my job as to making sure everything around here is sanitized, and everyone has the availability to go e-learning if the school has to shut down due to an outbreak. Also meant I had to put away the 4 bean bags here in the library,” Aldrich said.
Aldrich has many personal reasons for taking this position, and as a leader in the school, he has many goals.
“I want to make sure each student is able to learn, grow, and be responsible with the tools that we checked out to them in a satisfying manner,” Aldrich said
Hastings High is excited to have Alex helping around the school, and he can be found in the library, to the left of the checkout area.
