Adams Central, the name which “fires up” many HHS students whenever they hear it.
However, the Leadership Class has come up with the idea that the energy put into feeding the rivalry with Adams Central should instead be focused on fighting cancer at the upcoming basketball game January 28.
To do this, Leadership members have designed a purple T-shirt that includes the names of both schools and a ribbon that promotes finding a cure for cancer. Like going pink for breast cancer awareness, purple is the universal color for cancers of all types. The motto behind these shirts is “Two Schools, One Purpose, Beat Cancer,” with the idea that two schools can come together to battle the common enemy of cancer, rather than each other.
“Everyone is affected by cancer whether it’s a family member or friend. So who wouldn’t want to cure cancer?! By buying a shirt the money goes to the American Cancer Society to support the cause to find a cure,” Leadership class member Lindsey LaBrie said.
To buy a T-shirt contact any of the Leadership members from the flyers around the school. The T-shirts cost $10 with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. The deadline to purchase was set for January 10.
