In high school you learn so many new things. Some of those things will stick with you forever and some other things you will forget as soon as you take a test over the material. High school taught me that if you cram for an exam the night before, you might just pass the test, but the minute you hand it in, you will forget every little thing you studied for.
Ever since my freshman year, I was constantly talked to about college and how hard it was going to be to pay it off but never did I think the years would go by so fast and I would be sitting here on my last few days of school writing this. Even as I am writing this it seems too unreal that I will be graduating in a week.
High school taught me so much about people and life itself. I learned that not everyone is your friend and you will meet several different types of people in your life. I learned that I am not a morning person nor will I ever be. I also learned how to text without actually looking at the keyboard on my phone.
I am looking forward to the summer after graduation. I cannot wait to wake up in the middle of the day instead of 6:30 in the morning everyday. I am also pretty excited for college and to get to know new people. I will be rooming with one of my best friends, which makes it even more exciting! I would like to thank all of the teachers who were not only there to teach me math, science, English, social studies, but who were also there for me to listen whenever I needed someone to hear me out.
I especially want to thank my counselor, Mrs. Choquette, for helping me throughout my senior year and for also being someone who I could confide in. She helped me out throughout tough times my junior and senior year and I could never thank her enough for everything she has done for me. I will truly miss her and every other teacher who I got very close too.
If I could give my freshman year me some advice, I would tell myself to not trust people as easily as I did. I would tell myself to surround myself with positive vibes instead of negative ones. I would also tell myself to trust more in some of the adults in this school. Some of these teachers are the best people you will ever meet and will impact your life greatly.
My advice for incoming freshman is to just stay out of everyone’s way. Nobody will mess with you if you don’t mess with him or her. Do not fall into any kind of peer pressure, because trust me, there is a ton of it in high school. Pick out your friends carefully, because those who you called friends in middle school might not be your true friends here in high school. High school goes by pretty fast, enjoy every moment while it lasts and make every single day count.
