How to Beat Boredom over Winter Break
When December rolls around Christmas lights aren’t the only thing going up, the stress level itself is as well. Finals are just around the corner, and a two-week break is so close you can almost smell the gingerbread cookies being baked. The first few days are pure bliss, sleeping in till noon, a 24 hour showing of A Christmas Story, and only getting up to pee. But three days in and you’re starting to wish you were back at school with something to do, and we can’t have that. So i’ve compiled a fancy list of things to do to beat boredom over Winter Break.
Play Board Games
Get a group of friends or family together and spend the day playing your favorites. We all know Monopoly can’t be played under three hours so if you want something to keep you busy, you’ve found it! Don’t limit yourself to board games, throw some cards in there too!
Fun Board Games for a group:
Apples to Apples
Monopoly
Life
Clue
Trivia Pursuit
Uno
Phase 10
Skip Bo
Read a book, Or maybe even a series.
Winter is the perfect time to cozy up in a blanket, sit next to the fireplace and enrich yourself into a new world. Don’t have a fireplace? Not to worry, youtube is filled with 7 hour videos of the best fireplace sound effects. When you’re finished reading the book, you could rent out the movie and make a day out of it.
Book Suggestions that are also movies:
The Giver by Louis Lowry
The Maze Runner by James Dashner
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green (have kleenexes near by)
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

Have a throwback movie marathon
We’re all kids at heart so you know theres no way you could turn down a throwback of old Disney movies. That’s sure to keep you occupied for a solid day or two over winter break. Finish that up and still want more? Move on to classics.

Decorate Your House/ Room
Who cares if Christmas is in four days, it is still socially acceptable to have your Christmas tree up until February 1st so take full advantage of it. Don’t limit hanging lights up only outside, hang them around your room to give it a festive touch. Decorate a tree or two, DIY some ornaments and don’t forget the star! Get loads of construction paper and make snowflakes to hang anywhere and everywhere! Have fun with it and get creative! Happy Decorating!
