Venom is a Marvel Comics-based movie about an investigative journalist named Eddie Brock who is trying to make a comeback after a scandal and accidentally ends up becoming a host for an alien that gives him a violent alter-ego.
The corporation Life Foundations while exploring space bring back four alien symbiotes. While bringing them back one escapes and causes their ship to crash. After the Life Foundation recovers their aliens they discover that they can not survive without a host. Eddie Brock then reads about the Life Foundations human testing and confronts CEO Carlton Drake, which leads to Brock losing his job. Six months later when Drake is close to achieving symbiosis Brock is approached by scientist Dora Skirth, who takes Brock to the lab where they keep the human subjects. During this time Brock recognized one of the human subjects and attempts to free her and this results with him getting possessed by the symbiote inside the human subject. Brock then starts to communicate with this alien, who is being hunted but Drake due to it being the only known surviving symbiote. Brock and his alter-ego team up to try and stop the evil organization looking for alien symbiotes for themselves.
The actors playing these characters did well in my opinion. They had some parts in the movie where it could have been better but overall they did ok. Critics who watched the movie had other thoughts.
“Tom Hardy is one of the best actors in the world, but as he flounders his way through “Venom,” we’re reminded even the finest talents can sink under the weight of a terrible movie. And that’s what this is: a tone-deaf, uneven and maddeningly dumb clunker that never settles on an identity, all the way to the closing credits. It is a comedy? Sure, at times. I’ll admit I laughed out loud at two or three punchlines. But I also laughed when I think we weren’t supposed to be laughing” Critic Richard Roeper said.
The small comedy in the movie was a great addition, along with the action scenes that are always a great bonus. The acting on some characters could have been better but all in all most actors did a great job displaying the characters as they would be.
What came from this film to me was no matter how used to something you have been can change after meeting the right person or alien in this case. I hope others can learn how to change like some of the characters did in this film.
This movie can catch the eyes of Marvel lovers, comedy lovers, and action lovers. These are greatly shown in the film.
After watching this movie and seeing things in my perspective I am going to give it a thumbs up because it was still nice to watch.
*CAUTION: There is a flashing light scene that can be a trigger to people that get seizures.
