Since the test on March 2, 2025, juniors at Hastings High School are feeling a mix of anxiety and determination. The pressure to perform well on the standardized test is noticeable among students. Many have been preparing for months, using online resources to help their understanding.
“I feel like I’ve been studying forever,” said junior Hadyn Laux. “It’s stressful knowing that the test could influence my future. I just want to do my best.”
Like Laux, many students are finding it hard to balance their regular work coursework with the ACT preparation. The looming test date has led to sleepless nights and stress levels going up that affects their lives.
“I’ve been feeling really overwhelmed,” said junior Ava Satterly. “I know it’s just one test, but it feels like it’s so important. I’ve been trying to stay focused but it’s hard with everything else going on.”
The pressure to achieve high scores weighs heavily on the minds of many students, leading to a sense of urgency in their preparation for the ACT.
In the days leading up to the test, students focused on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
“I’ve been trying to eat well and get enough sleep, ” said Chloe Katzberg, a junior at HHS. “I know it’s important to be in good shape mentally and physically on test day.”
As of March 25th the atmosphere at Hastings High School is expected with high anticipation. Students are hopeful that their hard work will pay off, and they are eager to demonstrate their abilities on the ACT.
“Even though I am very scared of the ACT, I am also very ready to show off all the hard work,” said Laux.
