To study theater and education, Senior Grayce Martin will be taking her talents to Athens, Greece, and attending The American College Of Greece.
To the majority, moving to another country in another continent that speaks another language would be a worrisome idea. However, Grayce’s life story is a little different from the rest.
“I am not worried because my whole lifestyle revolves around moving countries and being forced to make new friends regardless of where I am at,” Martin said.
Grayce has lived on three different continents and five different countries including China, Bosnia, Malta, Scotland and the United States.
“I have known for a while that I wanted to go to university outside of the US,” Martin said.
Studying theater in Athens will give Grayce an upper hand in the world as theater dates back to the sixth century BC in classical Athens.
“Greece is the home of theater, allowing me to be in the birthplace of what I love is for sure going to enhance studying. I’ll get to experience some things most people don’t when studying theater,” Martin said.
Never having been to Greece, Grayce found The American College of Greece through her life’s adventures.
“Living in Malta, I fell in love with the Island life and city life in European cities and was doing research one day and found out about this school. I found out they had some really great theater programs and knew it was the one. I also have always wanted to be in Greece at some point in my life, and so I took this opportunity,” Martin said.
Going to school in Athens means more than just studying theater where it began for Grayce, it’s a dream come true.
“I have such a love for the movie ‘Mamma Mia’ which is set in Greece, which made it a dream school and location to live out that fantasy I have,” Martin said.
