The crowning jewel of the government laid down by the founding fathers of the United States is the beautiful city of Washington D.C. With its white marble monuments and stunning buildings, it is easy to tell that it is the home of one of the most stable governments in the world.
Sophomore Chloe Ferrone recently had the opportunity to visit this historical landmark when she took the trip of a lifetime to participate in the March for Life.
Ferrone got involved with the March for Life on a word from a friend.
“My friend went before and wanted me to go with her,” she said. “My church took buses and it was about a 50 hour bus ride there and back.”
According to Ferrone, the March for Life is a peaceful protest against legalizing abortion. The day of the march brought lots people onto the scene.
“On the day of the march, there was a big meeting in the mall area with lots of speakers,” said Ferrone. “There were half a million people so my church wore matching yellow hats. We actually only walked in the street for a few hours.”
In addition to the march, everyone had a day to themselves to sight see and tour the capital. Ferrone was able to enjoy many different things the city had to offer, including touring various museums and monuments.
“My favorite part was visiting the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception because it is ginormous and amazing,” she said.
All in all the experience is one Ferrone will remember for a long time to come and she strongly suggests taking part in the March for Life to anyone who might be interested.
“The March for Life is a really good opportunity to voice your opinion,” Ferrone said. “People who are interested should definitely go because it is an awesome experience.”
