The Drama Club officers perform an experiment to crowd. Featured in the photo include Jake Braun, Rebekah Evans, Angela Amaya, Hannah Reynolds, and Charity Marino. The experiment was performed to entertain attendees.
On November 12, the Murder Mystery event occurred in the Hastings High small gym. Before 6:00, Drama Club officers set up for the event and ordered 11 pizzas.
Attendees did not disappoint in terms of dressing like their assigned character. Along with dressing like their character, acting it out started as soon as the party began.
Pizza, cookies, and soda awaited on a table for guests to eat. After guests filled their stomachs and had some small talk, the first murder occurred.
Molly Mahogany played by Jordan Veik and Amy Harlowe played by Sadye Bell marched over to the photo backdrop to take a picture, and Amy had a drink in her hand. Amy took a drink and then handed her drink to another attendee in order to pose for the picture. Amy then fell to the floor, as she had been poisoned.
Chaos occurred as everyone hurried over to the scene. The Drama Club officers covered Amy with a sheet and performed a ritual to “ghostify” Amy. Amy then joined the others to mingle as a ghost, acting like she did not know of her death.
Officers told the group that throughout the event, clues would be secretly placed in the bleachers. The first clue found was a diary which discussed the author’s feelings of Amy Harlowe receiving a role in a feature film. The feelings discussed were extremely negative.
Taking a break from the murder, the group gathered to play a game of musical chairs. The game was very intense. Emi Royye played by Ella Collins took her spot in the final chair to win the game.
While the group was distracted, Mandy Lolsen played by Charity Marino dramatically fell in the bleachers. A stuffed octopus lay on top of her as she pretended to be dead. The cause of her death was an octopus which came near her, and the officers claimed she was allergic to octopi.
Attendees automatically went to the bleachers to search for clues about the second murder. A picture frame with a picture of Mandy Lolsen and twin Lolo Lolsen played by Joscelyn Denton was found. The picture was edited with devil features on the twins.
After the second murder, the officers suggested to do rap battles or lip sync battles. Several groups participated, and the officers recorded the fun.
The third murder occurred when Ronald Bogart played by Evan Strom walked out into the hallway before you enter the small gym. He collapsed without a known cause.
After all the murders occurred, the officers sent out a Google Form to all attendees. The form allowed participants to choose up to three murderers.
The characters who were voted for included Beethoven, Molly Mahogany, Spencer Viotto, Bob Down, and Lolo Lolsen.
These characters were called up to the bleachers. The officers held the octopus above the character’s heads, and proceeded to move it around as if it were a homecoming crowning. The octopus landed on Molly Mahogany, played by Jordan Veik, revealing the first murderer.
Molly Mahogany was jealous of her best friend Amy Harlowe. Amy had landed the lead role in a film that the two auditioned for. So, Molly resorted to violence in order to get revenge.
The next character to receive the octopus on their head was Lolo Lolsen. The twin was jealous of Mandy and decided to murder her with the octopus, since she knew of her allergy.
The final murderer was Spencer Viotto played by Jonah Fagiolo. Spencer had a twin named Speedy who was a known murderer. Speedy pretended to be Spencer for the night, so it was actually Speedy who murdered Ronald and not Spencer. Murder mystery solved.
