This school year, HHS welcomed more than 7 new teachers; one of those teachers is Megan Steinhauer. She studied social sciences for grades 7 through twelve before she came to Hastings to begin teaching World History and Nebraska History.
Steinhauer is part of the lucky few who has found a job that she is passionate about and also allows her to give back to the community.
“I just wanted to be able to help people and especially the younger generation so becoming a teacher allowed me to do that while also studying history,” Steinhauer said
Starting a new job in the midst of a global pandemic is stressful enough so now, she’s just trying to take everything day by day.
“Well, I didn’t set my expectations super high just because of CO-VID. I was really hopeful just to be in the classroom so I guess I’ve achieved that expectation”, Steinhauer said.
Aside from teaching history, Steinhauer enjoys spending time outdoors.
“When I’m not at school I love to farm, ranch, hunt, and fish, so I’d consider myself a very outdoorsy person,” Steinhauer said.
Steinhauer went into the first few weeks of school expecting to be stressed or scared but found that everyone was welcoming and willing to help her.
“Something that really surprised me about Hastings High was seeing all the pride and unification. I never realized how close-knit the students and staff were,” Steinhauer said.
