Flashy! Swag! Cool! These are all words used to describe sports uniforms.
Some Hastings High school athletics have received brand new uniforms for this upcoming year of sports. And while some might think teams get new uniforms all the time, there is a system in place.
āThe district gives me an amount to spend each year on uniforms. The purchase of new uniforms is on a seven year rotation,ā Activities Director Tracy Douglas said.
Douglas is still trying to piece together the rotation, as this is only her second year in that position.
The Hastings High football team got new home jerseys this year. The way of payment was different than others.
The senior football players, along with head coach Eric Emerson, picked out the jerseys on their own, and payed for the jerseys with money raised specifically by the football team.
āWe sell fundraising cards, that give discounts to a number of different businesses in the town of Hastings,ā senior Jeff Keele said. That money went toward the new jerseys.
To go along with the new home jerseys, the football team changed up their helmet decals, straying from the Tiger paw, and going with the Bengal stripes that the professional Cincinnati Bengals use.
After a number of years, both the boys and the girls Cross Country teams finally got new uniforms.
The new uniforms contain more school colors, with splashes of orange. The old uniforms were in decent shape, but lacked appeal.
With a style that will for sure stand out from the rest, the Cross Country team is excited to represent their school.
The Tigerettes and the cheerleaders also got new uniforms this year.
The softball team made a drastic change to their uniform style. Switching from black pants to white, the team also got new black socks, with orange stripes to accent the jerseys. The pants also have a thick black stripe down the side, and two thin orange stripes outside of the black. They also went away from the orange team shoes.
