NBC Sports: NFL Week 1 Recap talks about how the first week of football went. “The first week consisted of ‘bad football’ for numerous teams. Multiple penalties, bad throws, and punters dropping snaps resulted in this label. It seems there was a lack of sharpness from not playing,” Tony Dungy said.
Jameis Winston, the New Orleans Saints quarterback, had five touchdown passes tying his career high during the game versus the Green Bay Packers. As you can imagine, the Saints destroyed Green Bay 38-3. Aaron Rodgers faced his worst loss ever as starting quarterback, and I have never seen him play like that.
The beloved Kansas City Chiefs won the battle against the Cleveland Browns 33-29. Cleveland led by 12 points in the 3rd quarter, which led to a devastating loss for the Browns after being ahead.
Philadelphia was the only team to win in NFC East week 1, and they did not win by a small amount. Taking the dub 32-6 from the Atlanta Falcons brought confidence to the Eagles.
I have always liked to watch the Detroit Lions because of Ameer Abdullah, who was drafted there after his career at Nebraska. The team overall has not been successful for numerous years, and I believe it is due to the quarterback’s inconsistency. Therefore, the Detroit Lions lost to the 49ers 41-33.
The Carolina Panthers game versus the New York Jets made history, but not from a team or player. It was because Maia Chaka became the first Black woman to officiate an NFL game. The final score was 19-13, with the Panthers ending on top.
Tom Brady’s debut for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers went well for Brady. He threw four touchdown passes, and he threw for 379 yards. The final score was 31-29. I believe that the Dallas Cowboys have improved since last season, however.
Denver had a successful game against the Giants. The score illustrates how well Denver played, as it was 27-7. Bridgewater passed well, and the Giants could not hold off the Broncos.
The final game played was between the Oakland Raiders and the Baltimore Ravens. The game was clearly close, as the score was 33-27. Oakland was successful during overtime, but this game was not terrible for the Ravens.
Clearly, the first week of the NFL was eventful. History was made, and there were multiple debuts for quarterbacks.
