Monday, December 18th, the HHS auditorium will host the holiday show choir concert of the year! Show choir kids and teachers have been working on it for a long time and finally, it’s time to show the results of this hard work!
“We started rehearsals with just the music as soon as school started in August. Then in early September, we learned all our choreography and we’ve been working on it since then,” senior Emily Beave said.
She also explained the reason why she joined show choir “ I love to dance and sing and show choir is something I’ve always wanted to try it. I also like the team aspect of it, with our team but also with everyone else when we go to competitions because everyone is so nice and supportive,” Beave said.
Talking about the concert “I’m incredibly nervous for the concert because it’ll be our first time putting it all together. I’m also excited though because I want everyone to see what we’ve been working on and how hard we’ve been working. my favorite song to sing is our ballad, Light because it’s powerful and emotional,” Beave said.
Senior Lauren Canady joined show choir this year in the fall.
“It’s an energizing environment, everyone there wants to be there and it’s just a good place to be,” Canady said.
She also feels good about the concert “it will go well as long as everyone keeps their head in the game.” Canady said.
After the concert, I talked to Mr. Marquez. He has been teaching show choirs for seven years, in three different states.
“They did wonderfully, everything turned out great. I am very proud of them. Next year though, we will start rehearsals for show choir a little earlier,” Mr. Marquez said.
The HHS show choir is also going to several competitions “We are going to six contests throughout our season. Our first one is January 5th and I’m pretty sure it’s in Lincoln,” Beave said.
Let’s wish our fantastic show choir good luck, and happy holidays to everyone!
