On Thursday, December 16th, Dr. Jonglertham, Pauline’s father, gave Pauline Jonglertham a pep talk in case she didn’t get accepted into her dream school.
As the time kept creeping in, so did Pauline’s nerves. When the time hit six o’clock and the emails were sent out, all Pauline saw was “Congratulations!” Pauline said, “I immediately started jumping up and down and crying” Pauline had just been accepted into Duke University.
“My dad was there shouting beside me while it was all happening, and not to sound cliche, but looking back, it’s definitely one of my most favorite memories,” Pauline said.
Getting accepted into Duke University, the number two ranked pre-med school in the country, anyone would think Pauline had been planning this for a long time.
“Duke wasn’t something I planned out, no. I thought I had finalized my list of where I’d be applying back in early October, but when my dad and I were filling out my FAFSA, we added Duke at the very last second” Pauline said.
With Duke being in the Forbes top 15 best schools in America list, Pauline could go into any major and come out ready for success. However, there’s one particular major that catches her eye more than the rest.
“Duke doesn’t require students to declare a major til the end of their second year, but right now, I’m planning on majoring in Biology on the pre-med track,” Pauline said.
Pauline has no personal connections to anyone at Duke or North Carolina, however, she’s already started to put herself out there.
“I’m not too worried about making friends once at Duke. Everyone I’ve talked to who goes there or went there has told me about how friendly and social the environment is on campus, and how there’s a niche for everyone as long as you put yourself out there. I’m in a couple of group chats with other ’26 admits as well, and so far, everyone’s been super funny, friendly, and supportive which makes me that much more excited to join all of them this coming fall,” Pauline said.
