Monday September 12th marked the start of Hastings High’s spirit week. Spirit week is an opportunity for students to show their pride by dressing up in the themes assigned to the days of the week.
Hastings High’s spirit week themes consist of: Adam Sandler day, jersey day, color day, throwback day, and tiger pride day. Principal Linden’s first spirit week at Hastings Senior High School went with pride and enthusiasm.
“I love my job and I’m passionate about what I do. So I just come in with a positive attitude everyday and loving what you do just helps me be in that frame of mind. There are some up and downs to being a principal but at the same time, I choose to come to work and to come to school and wanting the day to be the best day that we’ve had and trying to make sure I have a positive impact on students and teachers and everyone in the building,” Linden said.
Linden is not a principal who takes school spirit lightly. He makes an effort every day to try and help students be more proactive about where they come from. Linden has a goal to make every Hastings High student proud of where they come from and has his own questions on how to try and make the school pride better.
“How do we promote Hastings High and how do we show people what we’re about, so people can be proud of where they come from?” Linden said.
Along with the students of Hastings High participating in spirit week, the teachers and Hastings High staff participated as well. Not only did the students that participated all had different favorites, but so did Principal Linden.
“They’re all pretty good but I’d say Tiger Pride day will probably become my favorite because that’s where I want you guys to be proud of where you come from and I want to see all the Hastings gear up and to be excited about the activities for the week,” Linden said.
Being a Hastings Tiger, is something that Principal Linden wants the school to be proud. Linden is focused on making this school a memory that most students would want to look back on after graduating from Hastings High.
“It’s pride. It’s who we are. It’s what we’re proud to be. Proud to be a Hastings Tiger, and we want people to know it. It’s just the fact that you’re a part of something bigger than yourself, I think that’s what it comes down to,” Linden said.
