Bowling at Hastings High School, coached by Kent Rothfuss, is an activity students can come to and make friends.
Senior Gabrielle Dart, junior Trev Petersen, and sophomore Megan Dart are wrapping up a thrilling season.
They have many things to be excited about and especially with the pin improvment and the leadership on the team.
”My average has raised about 100 pins, give or take. I went up two pounds in ball weight,” Gabrielle said. Megan agrees
“My game has improved by probably 100 pins. When I started bowling, I couldn’t get over 50,” Megan Dart said.
Trev is the leader on team.
“I had never really bowled until last year and now I’m a captain on the team,” Petersen said.
All three have had great memories in their years of bowling on the team.
“My favorite memory of bowling was last year’s Star City because I really enjoyed the team I was with,” Megan said.
This season’s memories are some for the books.
“My favorite memory from this season is staying at a hotel for a two day tournament with my team where we spent the whole night in the pool having fun,” Peterson said.
Each player on the team has individual strengths they bring to make the team better.
“Experience. Because I have bowled for so long, I have been on different sports patterns, with different equipment, and different teams,” Gabrielle Dart said.
Trev Peterson likes to give his insight to younger teammates.
“I help the freshman that we have on our team stay positive and I keep a level head while bowling and don’t get down on myself which comes off bad for my other teammates,“ Peterson said.
Megan reflects on how she positively impacts her team emotionlly.
“I am good at hyping up the team when we aren’t doing so well, and I also do well under pressure,“ Megan Dart said.
Kent Rothfuss, who is in his third year of coaching, hopes for a state championship win.
Long time bowler Rothfuss, still enjoys the competition of the game.
