During the week of April 23-26, student council will be hosting a spirit week, called “TWIRP week,” in celebration of prom. TWIRP stands for “the women is required to pay.”
“On Tuesday we have bowling starting at six and the first 50 people get in free, Wednesday we have a Cherry Berry night where anybody who shows a Hastings High ID gets 25% off and Thursday we hope to have a swing dancer at the school from six to seven,” senior Cassie Perry said.
The Hastings High student council decides what events they will have. They look at ideas that will get more students involved.
“The student council brainstorms together, then we vote, we then later inform the student body,” senior Chyna Delker said.
TWIRP week is always done a week before prom. These events are open to anyone who is interested in them.
“It’s a nice thing for the student body and it has been a tradition,” Delker said.
One goal student council has it to get as many people to attend the events.
“Student council heads the activities for the student body because our goal as student council is to get as many student at the school want to participate in events, This is one way we try to have students have fun and make memories in school,” Perry said.
Bring a friend and enjoy TWIRP week.
