Students Christmas Breaks

Christmas break started December 21 through January 4th. Giving students time to spend time with their friends and family.

Freshman Trinity Piersee went to her grandparents house for 4 days in Falun, Kansas, and went shopping. Piersee celebrated her birthday on the 27th. She also went to a Secret Santa party and exchanged gifts with her friends.

“Going and hanging out with my friends and celebrating the holidays was a nice way for me to take a break from the stress of school and just to have fun during the break,” Piersee says.

Addyson Hermes, a sophomore at Hastings High school spent six days in Siesta Key, Florida during Christmas break. Mostly spending her time on the beach with her family or shopping . She also went snorkeling on the beach. She went to numerous restaurants in Florida as well.

“I really enjoyed the break from school because I needed a break from learning and school work.  For the most part the whole vacation my family and I spent on the beach swimming or playing some kind of sport on the beach,” Hermes said.

Junior Lexi Benson spent Christmas break with her family. She also spent time staying active having dance practice and hitting in indoor tennis courts. As well as spent time with her friends on New Year’s Eve watching the countdown and playing games.

“I didn’t end up traveling much, but I ended up being able to hang out with my family and friends which I really enjoyed,” Benson said.

Anna Brant, a senior at Hastings High School spent her Christmas break with her family. Her family has many traditions for Christmas that have a lot to do with food. One of those is making a Yule log, a french dessert, with her family and neighbors. Another thing she did over break was committed to Northwestern in Iowa for golf.

 “Christmas Eve we had seafood paella we made with my neighbors, then went to church with my family, then we played lots of cards. Christmas day we woke up and had breakfast with my family including my grandparents, cousins, and aunts,” Brant said.
