Based upon a thorough selection process that included both teachers and administrators, and an extensive review of references, Dr. Tom Szlanda is being recommended for Board approval as the next Hastings Senior High Principal. This recommendation will be acted on by the Board of Education at the next regular Board meeting scheduled for April 18, 2016.
Dr. Szlanda graduated from Hastings Senior High in 1991. After completing a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwest Missouri State University in 1997, Dr. Szlanda went on to complete a Master of Science in Education, a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership, and a Doctorate in Education.
Dr Szlanda began his full-time teaching career at Ritenour High School in St. Louis, Missouri in 2000. He served Ritenour in a variety of roles including teacher, coach, Assistant Director of the Ritenour Summer Academy, Director of the Ritenour Summer Academy, PLC Team Leader, and Substitute Assistant Principal.
Dr. Szlanda joined the faculty of Hastings Senior High in 2009 as an Assistant Principal, a position he has maintained for the last seven years.
