New Teacher Feature

This year at HHS we have 6 new teachers! So, we decided to sit down with them and find out more about them.

Mrs. Bethany Neuhart

• Where did you get your teaching degree? – Hastings College
• Have you always wanted to be a teacher? – She wasn’t interested in teaching until the end of her college career, she used to want to be a Park Ranger
• If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be? – A huge Sequoia tree
• What is the last movie you went to see? –  Moonrise Kingdom
• If you wrote a biography what would be the title? – It would be called My life in Pictures

Mrs. Megan Ruby

• Where did you get your teaching degree? – Hastings College
• Have you always wanted to be a teacher? – She has, but she worked in customer service and as a secretary for 10 years
• If you only had 6 weeks to live, what would you do with your time? – She would travel around the world with her family
• What would I find in your refrigerator right now? – Spinach salad, tomato juice, left-overs
• If you could have a super power what would it be? – Super hearing, so she could hear what all the students are saying in class

 Ms. Elizabeth Carlson

• Where did you get your teaching degree? – Nebraska Wesleyan
• Have you always wanted to be a teacher? – She’s thought about it since elementary school
• If you were a salad, what kind of dressing would you have? – Ranch
• What is the last movie you went to see? – Won’t Back Down
• If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would play you? – Anne Hathaway

Mrs. Darci Karr

• Where did you get your teaching degree? – University of Nebraska at Kearney
• Have you always wanted to be a teacher? – Yes, but at first she went to college for Actuary Science
• If you could be any person in fiction, who would you be? – Mickey Mouse
• What’s the last book you read? – The Hunger Games
• If you wrote a biography what would the title be? – The Chaotic Life of Mrs. Karr

Mr. Lloyd McIntire

• Where did you get your teaching degree?  – Hastings College
• Have you always wanted to be a teacher? – Not always, but he got a chance to work with kids while he was finishing up his psychology degree and then realized teaching was for him
• If you won $20 million in the lottery, what would you do with the money? – Give some to charity, take good care of family, travel and explore the world
• If you could trade places with any other person for a week, who would it be? – His wife so he can understand her point of view or his students so he can understand their thinking
• If you were written about in the newspaper, what would the headline say? – It would say “I have no idea.”

Mr. Cornelio Trejo

• Where did you get your teaching degree? – Gen eds and hands-on teaching at CCC/ transferred to UNL
• Have you always wanted to be a teacher? – Didn’t always want to be a teacher but has always wanted to be involved with youth
• If aliens landed in front of you and offered you any position on their planet what would you want? – An assistant coach on professional sports team
• What’s your favorite part of a sandwich? – The meat
• If you were a food, what would you be?  – Pizza
