There is a new coffee shop that has recently opened up in Hastings, Nebraska. “The Captain’s Table Acoustic Coffee House” was opened on February 1 and is located on 219 N Lincoln Ave. The two owners are Byron and Linda Johnson.
“We serve eight different kinds of hot tea, we have just regular coffee, decaf, or if they want really strong coffee we make really strong coffee, and we have pop, bottled water, Orange Juice and we have the little kid juice barrel things,” Byron Johnson said.
The coffee shop has much fewer items on the menu than most other coffee shops in town. Although, they make up for their lack of menu items with a very homey atmosphere.
“We wanted to provide a venue for aspiring musicians because there is really no place for anyone to go out and play,” Byron Johnson said.
Clearly the charm from “The Captain’s Table” doesn’t come from the drinks and food. The thing that really sets this coffee shop apart is it’s friendliness to musicians. The coffee shop includes a small stage with two chairs and a guitar. This is open to anyone to play as long as they follow a few rules.
The coffee shop is open Monday – Thursday from 8 AM – 4 PM then on Fridays they are open Friday from 8 AM – 2 PM then again from 6 PM – 10 PM. In my experience, the owners who also work as the staff was very friendly and courteous. They offer free bible study to those who want it and free bibles to those who need them. Overall, “The Captain’s Table Acoustic Coffee House” is a great addition to the city of Hastings.
