Hastings High Theatre is putting on a production of a stereotypical 1950s family with a dramatic twist. The Family Man, by Benjamin Bernard Zavin and Carl Leo, captures the view of a family of two lovely children and two caring parents. Bill Cahill, played by senior Collin Spilinek, started out as the man of the house that plays baseball, which he is really good at, and makes a good living at it. Bill comes down with a leg injury which causes the family to become financially unstable.
Bill’s wife, Ellen Cahill, played by junior Annie Davis, had to throw the kitchen apron out and acquire a job to keep food on the table. With Ellen out of the house Bill had to step in and be the caretaker, cooking, cleaning, and watching over the kids. He finds out he’s a natural at this, starts attending the AP meetings for the community and throws together a plan for a great barbecue. All the members find him as a great member of the committee until family and house work start to become too much of a haggle. Bill has to deal with his wife and multiple other problems that pop up along the way.

The show is well worth a laugh and well worth the $4 ($4 for students, $7 for adults, and free with activity ticket). These high-schoolers make this play come together greatly. The production adds touches of feminism and mixes up the general social image of a 1950s family.
In order from left to right, Roger Cahill (Matt Russell), Bill Cahill (Spilinek), Nancy Cahill (Miranda Niemeyer), and Ellen Cahill (Davis)
Many fights break out between Mr and Mrs Cahill, they struggle through them, eventually finding a solution but never right away. This is part of the load Bill had to take on with all the other struggles occurring.

Bill hosts the AP meetings with the other committee members and provides drinks and statics of how the committee is doing.
The performance times of the play are April 10 and 11 at 7:30 and April 12 at 2:30. Come support all the members of Hastings High drama.
