The top ranked Class B Tiger boys bowling team continued their unbeaten streak, traveling to Elkhorn for a double dual match. Hastings defeated Omaha Roncalli 946 to 750 and 880 to 946. The Tigers won the Baker portion of the match to secure an 18 – 3 victory. The Tigers next faced Mt. Michael, the team they defeated in last year’s state championship finals. Hastings won 1078 to 835 and 1001 to 922. Hastings won the Baker portion of the match for a 20 – 1 victory. The Tigers were led by freshman Bladyn Hogan’s 213 average and 243 high game. Junior Nicholas Christen averaged 208, senior Chandler Hysell averaged 196, senior Wyatt Davis averaged 194, senior Riley Sadd averaged 178, and senior Wyatt Godtel averaged 175. Districts are up next, Saturday, Jan. 25. The Tiger boys finish the season 9-0.
The Second ranked Class B girls team was also in Elkhorn for a double dual match. Hastings defeated 3rd ranked Omaha Ronalli, but lost a tough match to top ranked Waverly to finish the regular season 8-1. Hastings defeated Roncalli 885 to 793 and 761 to 752, to win the match 13.5 – 7.5. The Tigers next faced Waverly, the team they defeated in last year’s state championship finals. Hastings lost game one 821 to 936. Game two saw a tough battle in an 853 to 889 loss, 5.5 – 15.5 pts. The girls were led by senior Mikayla Novak’s 209 average and 219 high game. Junior Ashley Hock averaged 180 with a 220 high game, senior Cheyenne Fielder averaged 160 with a 203 high game, junior McKenzie Kidd averaged 142, junior Natasha Ashley averaged 139, and sophomore Samantha Hopkins averaged 134. The Tigers head to Districts Saturday, Jan. 25 in Grand Island.
