Improvement was the theme for the marching season, and the last two weeks’ competitions solidified that with Beyond the Rainbow.
More than 100 members of the Tiger Marching Band have been in competition each Saturday since September 27. At each session, the band performs their show, receives a rating and critique, then heads home to refine and improve.
Their best marks came at Omaha Marching Invitational October 18, when the group increased their scores by more than 16 points, being awarded a Division II rating, just below a top rating of Division I. For this group, that was great news, as most bands don’t improve 16 points from one end to the other an entire season.
Saturday’s final performance at Nebraska State Bandmasters Association earned the group another Division II, and scores kept with the previous week’s.
