Students at Hastings Senior High now have an option to take a new videography class, Tiger Vision.
Tiger Vision is a new videography/marketing class that will be used to promote all clubs and activities throughout Hastings High through the use of filming, editing clips, and the new Daktronics™ Electronic Scoreboard.
“The class will be mainly used for content generation to then display on the scoreboard whether that’s hype videos of our starting lineup, interviews in the starting lineup, videos, or different messages that we may want to get across. I will also plan on teaching how to use the scoreboard within the class or to the students of the class, but that’s not a primary focus of the class. Having them run it more. Have them create content for it,” said Dylan Flinn, a business teacher at HHS and teacher of Tiger Vision
Many students who are taking this class are excited to learn and perfect the skills that are taught in Tiger Vision because this is something that they are interested in for their future and careers.
“I think it’s definitely going to benefit me as I’ll be able to make connections with other people who are interested in media, as well as it’ll set me up for college and already have kind of a head start on other people. And it’ll teach me some basic skills, and maybe some more advanced skills that I can use further down the road,” said Caden Block, a current Tiger Vision student.
This class will be rather tough to get into, as there are limited spots and equipment, and there are prerequisites to get into the class. In order to take this class, one must take digital media.
“We currently have eight students enrolled in Tiger Vision, which is a great number. We have a great group of students who are really self-motivated, Flinn said. “And that’s kind of the goal going forward. If it grows a little bit, that’s awesome. It’s not a class that can get too huge. But it’s a good number to start.”
This class comes with many opportunities in regard not only to college; including scholarship opportunities, professional connections, learning content in advance, and resume skills.
