Lady Tiger Volleyball

Being in a room with 54 people might feel a little cramped. Being in a gym with 54 people is quite the opposite. This year at Hastings High there is a record number of girls out for volleyball.

“We have 54 girls out for volleyball this year, an all time high. I think it is because of the amount of success we had last year, making it to sub-state, and the word of mouth probably too. We have Coach Schwinn and Pfiel at the middle school as well, encouraging people to come out,” Coach Dave Hepner said.

You might think that having 54 girls on one team might get difficult. While there may be some friction at first, everything falls into place and a team starts to form.

“I think It’s a really good thing that a lot of girls are coming out for volleyball. It’s really good for the program because word is getting out and we are getting better because of it,” senior hitter Jordan Graviette said.

With an all time high of girls trying out, who knows what next year will hold? These numbers seem to show growth in the program.

“I think the program is going in the right direction. We are getting better every year and every year I get excited and I can’t wait to see what we will accomplish,” Hepner said.
