As students we’ve just about survived the 2014-15 school year, but we have one last hurdle to clear. Finals.
Finals can be stressful for everyone, even teachers. They struggle to get all grades entered and finalized before the clock ticks down and students spend some long nights reviewing material to make sure they get that A. If students could remove finals from their lives they would do so in a heartbeat, but sadly that’s not an option. So to make finals a little easier on everyone here’s ten tips and tricks to keep you from pulling all your hair out.
- Don’t Procrastinate – Waiting until the night before and staying up all night to study for the test that you need at least a 96 percent on to pass the class is not the best plan to have. You should start studying soon enough that you don’t feel extremely pressured.
- Review Old Assignments – Looking over previous homework can be a great way to refresh your memory on stuff you learned eight months ago.
- Ask Your Teachers Anything You Don’t Understand – If you can’t work out a problem go in and talk to your teacher. They’re all going to be willing to sit down with you so you can perform your best on test day.
- Get Enough Sleep – Some people think pulling an all nighter studying will do the trick. Actually this will hurt more than help. You should try to get about eight or nine hours of sleep each night during the week of finals.
- What Is The Most Important – If there’s a subject that you’ve done well in all year and have the info down pat, then don’t spend two full nights studying old papers. Instead use that time on stuff you’re not as familiar with.
- Use Color! – Highlight your notes! Use color! This can be a fun way to spruce up studying and help key words to stick in your brain.
- Eat Healthy – Monster is a no-no. You need to eat your fruits and vegetables. Most people want to resort to junk food while studying, but you must resist.
- 50 Minutes On 10 Minutes Off – This is a great study habit for anyone who gets distracted or frustrated easily. How it works is you spend 50 minutes studying at 100 percent no distractions, then you get 10 minutes to do whatever you wish.
- Don’t Get Stuck – If you think you bombed your last test you have to forget it. If you’re thinking about how bad you did during your next test you’ll fail that one too! Just let it gooooooooooo! Let it gooooooo!
- Take All Your Time – If you have extra time during your test use it. Go back and check answers. Why waste your time daydreaming? You have all summer for that!
Good luck to everyone as they take their last tests of the year, and don’t forget to rest up! No video games until one or Netflix until two.
