It may not be the next Deflate-Gate, but the men’s bathrooms being locked at random times tends to make the male students agitated.
We only have five minute passing periods and some guys believe they have enough time to go because they have a class right next to the bathroom. So they would walk to the bathroom, just to find out that the bathroom in close proximity to their classroom is locked. At that point, they have to either hold it in, ask their teacher and hope they can go before class, waste a pass and/or the teacher’s time in class, or have to run to the bathroom in front of the main office and hope that they make it back in time. It would not be so concerning if they would either keep the bathroom doors locked, keep them unlocked, or warn people that the doors are locked.
I hate this whole dilemma myself because I have been late to class before because of the nonsense. And the other thing that makes people mad is the fact that no one knows the real reason why the bathrooms are locked. This leads to some nasty rumors going around, which could harm the school’s reputation or a single person’s reputation if they were somehow linked to the problem.
The second problem people have with the bathrooms, and this one is not as controllable, is the status of them. They could be way worse than they actually are, but the bathrooms are nasty and tend to lack common privacy implements that bathrooms should have, such as doors to the stalls, or privacy walls between each urinal. This one can be controlled to an extent with the fact that the male students and faculty can make sure not to further damage the bathrooms. It is understandable that budget is a huge factor, but the bathrooms absolutely need a leg to stand on with the state that they are in now.
