With a new year means new trends and 2013 is full of them. From the glitz and glamour of fashion to the coolest gadgets, it’s sure to be a trendy year.
To begin, teens have expressed a liking for skinny jeans, and no, not just the girls but the guys too.
“Some look alright but some of them look weird, the colors are weird. I personally don’t like skinny jeans,” senior Gabby Bohrer said.
Junior Cadee Brown says that she likes them and thinks they’ll be around for a while.
“They were big back in the 80’s. They are bright and colorful and they’re pretty neat,” Brown said.
Sticking with jeans, colored ones have also sparked a popularness. Blue jeans have been the most popular from past years but 2013 is sure to spark a new era in the jeans department.
Now moving down the aisle to shoes. Students at Hastings High are saying Ugg boots are in style and have been for quite a while and don’t see an end in sight for the growing popularity.
“I like the simple, original ones. I have one pair that I bought years ago with my own money,” Brown said.
Another trending brand in shoes is Toms, they are growing more and more popular because of their stylish looks and for every pair bought Toms gives a pair to a child in need.
These days it seems as if the 80’s are making a comeback. In late 2008 Monster and Beats, founded by Dr. Dre., announced their own line of
headphones. Everyone The Tiger Cub spoke to agreed that they would like a pair of the stylish headphones.
“They are cool, I want some.” “The sound quality, I’ve heard it’s really well. And it blocks out everything else,” Brown said.
The 80’s styled headphones can be found being worn by at least one person in a gym. The stylish headphones are also worn by celebrities. During the summer olympics the headphones were sported by Michael Phelps and other athletes. They can even be seen on NFL athletes, warming up before the big game.
Changing into a different section in the tech world, cell phone technology is constantly changing and everybody wants the latest and greatest. Trending in the cellphone section is the Samsung Galaxy S III and Apple’s iPhone 5. They are both widely sought after phones and are a must have.
Application wise for the new phones, “Snapchat”, is growing popularity among the teenage community. The app allows the user to snap a picture, draw or write on it and send to another user. The kicker is, the receiver can only look at the “Snap” for a certain amount of time which is set by the sender.
