Registering to vote is required in Nebraska to be eligible to vote, and registering is easier than you think! In Nebraska you must register to vote 30 days before the day of the election. You can register in person at your local courthouse, Department of Motor Vehicles, public libraries, and other public agencies. Registering is also available by mail. Most people have the misconception that if they are not yet 18 years of age they can not register to vote. The age requirement varies by state, but most states allow individuals who will be 18 years of age on or before the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.
To register you must:
•be a United States citizen and a resident of the State of Nebraska
•have not been convicted of a felony, or if convicted at least two years have passed since the completion of your sentence including parole term.
•be 18 years of age on or before the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.
•have not been officially found to be mentally incompetent.
