The week of September 3 was a busy one for Hastings High.
On Monday, the softball team played a doubleheader at Grand Island Northwest. The Tigers lost 9-2 in the first game, but came back with a win of 6-2 in the second.
On Tuesday, the boys’ tennis team headed to Norfolk to compete in a dual. The softball girls also returned to the field for a triangular against Aurora and Cozad at home.
Thursday, the tennis team hosted a dual against Lincoln High. The volleyball team traveled to Columbus and won in three sets (25-18, 25-22, 25-17).
On Friday, girls golf had an invite in Lexington. The cross country team competed in Aurora against multiple schools. Both the girls and the boys’ teams placed first overall, earning individual plaques and a traveling trophy. The football team also took the field for the homecoming game against Alliance, winning 39-7. Homecoming candidates were presented during halftime of the game, following a performance by the Tigerettes.
Spirit week was also carried out this week. The themes were Tuesday – Beach Day, Wednesday – Vine/Meme Day, Thursday – Jersey, Friday – Tiger Pride.
On Saturday, the tennis team competed in North Platte. The softball team had a double dual against Adams Central and Fillmore Central. The team won against Fillmore Central with a score of 11-1 and won again against Adams Central with a sweep of 10-0 in four innings. The Homecoming Dance was also held on Saturday night from 8-11. Alex Swoboda and Lily Kingsley were crowned king and queen. Osvaldo Diaz and Hope Kohmetscher were crowned prince and princess.
